Battle For The Earth

Eternal sadness, a haunting tune -
Behold the world, bathed in the moon.
Soft sorrows falling to their birth
Caress the face of troubled earth.
Cannot the sun burn off the mist?
Aye, he can; but the earth, fog-kissed,
Shall not suffer the warming rays
To grace her 'til the end of days.
End of all time, can you not speed
Your approach, the less to bleed?
Trouble must sing a deadly song,
And nature unbroken groans long.
Moonlight stealing sunshine's breath
Embraced the world in arms of death.
Embers of a dying fire
Burned forth anew and flamed higher.
Relit the sun from glowing coals,
The better then to save our souls.
Eternal darkness, eternal light -
They struggle as the day to night.
Sun to moon and moon to sun;
The victor rises - behold, the One!
